| As per G.O.(MS)No.173/86/LAD dt: 18-09-1986 Government have ordered to organize an autonomous Society namely Kerala Rural Employment and Welfare Society with the Panchayats of the State as members and conducted under auspices of Panchayat department in order undertake activities and implement schemes designed to promote the progress and welfare of the rural people and to improve the employment potential for the young men women of the rural areas. |

| The Kerala Rural Employment and Welfare Society registered under the Travancore Cochin Literary Scientific and Charitable Societies Registration Act 1955 Reg.No.631/86.Its activities shall extended to the whole of Kerala and its head quarters shall be at Thiruvanathapuram. |

| Mudralayam was established in the year 1987 at Kanjikode in Pudussery Panchayat of Plakkad District, very near to Walayar-Kerala-Tamilnadu Border. It was formally inaugurated on 26-01-1988, by the then Minister for Local Self Government Department Sri.V.J.Thankkppan. Production was commenced from April-1988 onwards. The main motive behind to start this institution was to print and supply various Forms & Registers in a uniform approved formats timely to local bodies Mudralayam is always striving hard to achieve this mission satisfactorily. |
